Parasite Information & Wellness Policy
Please schedule a wellness visit for your puppy within 3 business days of arrival. Per our contract, if your puppy is deemed unhealthy or unfit for sale upon arrival, you may choose to return the puppy for a full refund. We are not responsible for veterinary expenses incurred after your puppy has left our care.
We do not guarantee our puppies to be parasite-free. Common puppy parasites include roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, tapeworms, Giardia, and Coccidia. These parasites are common in young puppies and do not indicate that a puppy has been raised in unsanitary conditions. Although we follow a strict parasite prevention protocol, reinfection can occur despite excellent cleaning and preventive care.
Many puppies are exposed to parasites through their mother's milk, which is why veterinarians commonly recommend deworming every two weeks during the first few months of life. Stress from leaving their mother, traveling, and adjusting to a new home can also trigger Giardia or Coccidia flare-ups. Our puppies leave our care without symptoms, but stress-related flare-ups can occasionally occur.
Puppies may also become exposed to parasites by drinking from puddles, eating feces, stepping in contaminated areas, or licking their paws. While we do everything possible to provide healthy puppies, we cannot control every environmental exposure after they leave our care.
We recommend deworming puppies at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks of age. After 12 weeks, continue deworming every 3–6 months throughout adulthood, or as recommended by your veterinarian. We also recommend that your veterinarian perform a fecal examination during your puppy's first wellness visit or administer a preventative deworming treatment if appropriate. Regular parasite prevention is the best way to keep your puppy healthy.
