Your Puppy's First Week

A simple day-by-day plan to help your Cavapoo settle in.

Day 1

Arrive home calmly. Show your puppy their crate, water, and potty area. Keep introductions to family and pets brief and gentle.

Days 2–3

Establish a feeding, potty, and sleep routine. Begin short, positive crate sessions. Limit visitors so your puppy decompresses.

Days 4–5

Start gentle handling, name recognition, and simple cues like 'sit'. Begin supervised exploration of the home.

Days 6–7

Schedule the first veterinary exam. Continue socialization with new sights, sounds, and surfaces in a safe, low-stress way.

Health & Vet To-Dos

  • Schedule a vet wellness exam within 48–72 hours of pickup.
  • Bring the health records Cedar Wood Farms provides.
  • Ask your vet about the remaining vaccination and deworming schedule.
  • Register your puppy's microchip with your contact info.
  • Discuss heartworm, flea, and tick prevention with your vet.

A Quick Note Before You Browse 🐾

Thank you so much for visiting Cedar Wood Farms! Right now a very large number of families are reaching out about puppies, and our communication has fallen behind. I physically can't keep up with every message as quickly as I'd like, and our flight nannies are also stretched thin at the moment.

To keep our five-star rating and make sure every family's experience stays personal, I'm taking a short step back to get caught up. If you've already messaged us, you haven't been forgotten. We're working through every message and will get back to you as soon as we can. Please send just one message on one platform. Duplicate messages slow things down for everyone.

We are so grateful for each and every one of our families, and we truly appreciate your patience during this busy season.

With love,
