The People Behind the Puppies
Meet Our Team
Cedar Wood Farms is a small, family-run operation — and the people you'll meet below are the ones who raise, socialize, and place every puppy that leaves our home. We're a tight team, and we each wear more hats than our titles suggest. Here's a little about who we are and why we do this.

Founder & Head Breeder
Mikaela
My love for animals started long before Cedar Wood Farms ever had a name. From the time I was young, animals were simply a part of who I was. I grew up with a deep appreciation for them, and some of my favorite memories revolve around the animals that shaped my childhood and ultimately helped shape the person I am today. For years, one of my greatest passions was barrel racing. Horses taught me patience, responsibility, determination, and the incredible bond that can exist between an animal and the person who cares for them. Looking back, I truly believe those early years laid the foundation for everything I would eventually build.
When I graduated from high school, I didn't have a traditional picture of what my future was supposed to look like. I just knew that I wanted my life to revolve around animals. I have been doing this since right out of high school, growing, learning, making mistakes, gaining experience, and building a life around something I genuinely love. What started as a dream has grown into so much more than I could have imagined, but my reason for doing it has never really changed.
Long before I ever bred my first litter, I became fascinated with dog genetics. I spent countless hours studying pedigrees, coat colors, traits, inheritance, health, structure, temperament, and the science behind responsible breeding. I wanted to understand not only what made a puppy beautiful, but what went into producing dogs that were healthy, well-rounded, predictable, and capable of becoming incredible family companions. Genetics became something I genuinely loved learning about, and even today I am constantly studying and trying to better myself and my program. I don't believe you ever reach a point where there is nothing left to learn.
When I eventually began breeding, I knew I wanted to build something different. I didn't want Cedar Wood Farms to simply be a place where puppies were born and then sent home. I wanted to create a program centered around the entire life of the puppy—from carefully choosing parents and planning pairings to raising each litter with love, socialization, individual attention, and intention. I wanted our families to feel like they had someone in their corner before they ever chose their puppy and long after they took them home.
Over the years, this has become far more personal to me than I ever expected. I have watched puppies I helped bring into the world become someone's best friend, a child's constant companion, a source of comfort during difficult seasons, and a treasured member of families all across the country. There is something incredibly special about knowing that a little puppy raised here will go on to be loved for years by someone I may have never met if it weren't for this program.
There have been countless sleepless nights, difficult decisions, long days, bottles, vet visits, road trips, missed plans, and moments when running a breeding program required everything I had to give. But there have also been moments that remind me exactly why I started. Watching a newborn puppy take its first breaths, seeing a nervous puppy gain confidence, receiving photos from families years later, or watching someone's face when they finally meet the puppy they have been waiting for makes every difficult day worth it.
Cedar Wood Farms has grown tremendously since those early days, but I never want growth to take away from the heart behind it. Every puppy is still an individual to me. Every family matters. Every litter teaches me something. And every year I become even more grateful that something I loved so deeply as a young girl became the life I get to live today.
I often think about the girl who loved animals, rode horses, barrel raced, studied dog genetics simply because she couldn't get enough of learning about them, and dreamed of somehow building a future around that passion. I don't think she could have imagined where it would eventually lead.
Cedar Wood Farms is the result of years of learning, hard work, faith, persistence, and an enormous love for animals. It isn't just my business—it is a huge piece of my life and my story. I am incredibly grateful for every family who has trusted me, every puppy that has taught me something, and every person who has supported this dream along the way.
And while I am incredibly proud of what Cedar Wood Farms has become, I still feel like we are only getting started.

The Heart and Soul Behind the Scenes
Leah
There are so many things that make Cedar Wood Farms special, but at the very heart of it all is my mother. She has been beside me since the beginning—before this dream had grown into what it is today—and there is simply no way I could do this without her. She is my rock, my firm foundation, and the person who has supported me through every step of building something I love so deeply.
When I first dreamed of Cedar Wood Farms, she believed in me. She saw how much this meant to me and chose to pour her own time, energy, and heart into helping me make it a reality. Through the excitement, the uncertainty, the long days, and the moments when everything felt overwhelming, she has been there. She has encouraged me, worked alongside me, and helped carry the responsibilities that come with caring for these precious little lives.
My mother is with our puppies around the clock. Caring for them shapes her days and, very often, her nights. She is there for the newborns who need extra attention, the little ones who need another feeding, and the puppies who simply want to be held close. She gets to know their personalities and their little habits, and she puts so much care into making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved.
So much of her work happens quietly, long before a family ever sees a puppy's first photograph. It happens during the countless nights she stays up bottle-feeding newborns, when the house is still and another tiny baby needs her. It happens in the early mornings after very little sleep, when there are still puppies to feed, bedding to change, and little ones to check on. Those tender, demanding hours are part of our puppies' stories, and she gives so much of herself to them.
Raising puppies takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to keep showing up, even when you are exhausted. My mother does that every day. I have watched her put their needs ahead of her own rest more times than I can count. I have watched her worry over the smallest newborn and celebrate the little milestones that other people might never see. I wish every family could witness just a moment of that care, because it would help them understand how deeply their puppy has been loved from the beginning.
She has the biggest heart of anyone I know. I call her a saint, and anyone who knows her understands why. There is such kindness in the way she treats people and such tenderness in the way she cares for our animals. Everyone who talks to her absolutely loves her. She has a way of making people feel welcome and comfortable, and I love that our puppy families get to experience the same warmth that has meant so much to me throughout my life.
To me, she is also the person I can lean on when I need reassurance, perspective, or someone who understands just how much this dream means. Building Cedar Wood Farms has brought so much joy, but it has also required hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. Having my mother beside me has made an immeasurable difference. She knows the work behind the photographs, the emotions behind the milestones, and the dedication behind every puppy we raise, because she has lived it all with me.
When I look at Cedar Wood Farms today, I see her contributions everywhere. I see them in the puppies she has helped nurture, in the relationships she has built with our families, and in the daily work she does without expecting recognition. Her love and commitment have helped shape this program from its earliest days. She deserves to be celebrated for everything she has given and everything she continues to do.
Mom, thank you for believing in me and for helping me turn this dream into something real. Thank you for every sleepless night, every bottle feeding, every word of encouragement, and every time you have stepped in because you knew I needed you. Thank you for loving these puppies so completely and for giving our families a little piece of your heart, too. I hope you know how much I see, appreciate, and love you.
You are the heart of this program and my firm foundation. I am so grateful that we have shared this journey from the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Cedar Wood Farms—with you beside me.

Vet Tech & Puppy Coordinator
Andrea
Andrea has become such an important part of Cedar Wood Farms, and we are incredibly grateful to have her on our team. As a veterinary technician, she brings not only valuable knowledge and experience to our program, but also a genuine love for every puppy that comes through our doors.
Andrea works hands-on with our puppies every single day and has been a dedicated part of Cedar Wood Farms for over a year. From the smallest newborns to the puppies preparing to leave for their forever homes, she is there helping care for them, watching over them, loving on them, and making sure they receive the attention they deserve. She has never skipped a beat, and her consistency, dependability, and willingness to jump in wherever she is needed mean more to us than we could ever put into words.
One of the things we love most about Andrea is how personally she knows our puppies. She doesn't simply see a room full of puppies—she knows them individually. She knows their names, their personalities, their little habits, and the things that make each one special. She notices the quiet puppy who needs an extra cuddle, the playful one who is always looking for an adventure, and the puppy who just wants to be held. That kind of attention comes from truly caring, and it is one of the many reasons she is such a valuable part of our program.
Having someone with veterinary technician experience working alongside us every day gives us an additional set of knowledgeable and attentive eyes on our puppies. But beyond her professional experience, Andrea has something that cannot be taught: a true heart for animals. She treats our puppies with kindness, patience, and compassion, and we know they are in loving hands whenever she is with them.
Over the past year, Andrea has become much more than someone who works with us. She has become part of the Cedar Wood Farms family. She is dependable, hardworking, caring, and always willing to do whatever needs to be done. There are so many behind-the-scenes moments that families may never see, and Andrea is a huge part of those moments—the everyday care, the cleaning, the cuddling, the observing, the socializing, and all the little things that help prepare our puppies for the families who have been waiting for them.
If you come to Cedar Wood Farms to pick up your new family member, there is a very good chance you may get to meet Andrea yourself. By that point, she will probably already know your puppy by name and be able to tell you a little about their personality, their favorite things, and the sweet quirks she has gotten to know along the way.
We appreciate Andrea more than she knows and are so thankful for the love, dedication, knowledge, and reliability she brings to Cedar Wood Farms every single day. Our puppies are better because of the care she gives them, and our program is stronger because she is a part of it. Andrea is truly one of the special people behind Cedar Wood Farms, and we are so grateful she chose to be part of this journey with us.
