The Chocolate Cavapoo
About the Chocolate Cavapoo Coat
Chocolate Cavapoos have a rich, deep brown coat that ranges from milk chocolate to dark espresso. Unlike the marbled merle pattern, a solid chocolate Cavapoo has an even, uniform brown coat that's warm, elegant, and undeniably beautiful. The chocolate coloration is a recessive genetic trait, making solid chocolate Cavapoos a special and sought-after find.
Temperament
Chocolate Cavapoos are every bit as loving, gentle, and people-focused as any other Cavapoo. Their gorgeous brown coat is simply a pigment trait — it has no bearing on personality. Expect a sweet, playful, deeply bonded family companion.
Coat
The chocolate coat is soft, wavy to curly, and low-shedding. It's typically an even, solid brown from nose to tail, sometimes with subtle lighter tones around the face and paws. Regular grooming keeps the rich chocolate color looking its best.
Adult Size
Mini Chocolate Cavapoos typically mature to 10–18 pounds. Coat color has no effect on size — adult weight is determined by the Poodle parent and the puppy's individual genetics. See our sizing guide for expected adult weights.
Grooming
Chocolate Cavapoos have a soft, low-shedding coat that benefits from brushing a few times a week and professional grooming every 6–8 weeks. Regular grooming keeps their chocolate coat tangle-free, healthy, and looking its best.
Health Testing
Every parent of our chocolate Cavapoos is DNA tested and health cleared. Puppies receive veterinary exams, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping before going home, backed by a written health guarantee.
Health Guarantee
Each Chocolate Cavapoo puppy comes with a comprehensive genetic health guarantee and full veterinary records, so you can bring your new family member home with total confidence.
Temperament First
Coat Color Does Not Determine Temperament
It's important to understand that a Cavapoo's coat color has no bearing on its personality, health, or trainability. A Red Cavapoo, a Blue Merle Cavapoo, and a Black Cavapoo from the same litter can share the exact same gentle, affectionate temperament — color is simply a matter of genetics and pigmentation, not character.
At Cedar Wood Farms, we pair families with puppies based on temperament, lifestyle fit, and energy level — never coat color alone. Choosing a puppy for its personality first is the best way to bring home a companion who truly fits your family, no matter what color their coat happens to be.
